Sustainability is our keyword

We have one keyword in our joint vision: sustainability. We involve this in our three dimensions: people, environment and economy. From our responsibility, we obviously contribute to a more sustainable world. A place where people, environment and economy are in balance.

That's why we not only strive for a better operating efficiency when making business decisions. We definitely also seize (new) opportunities for a better environment and the improved well-being of our employees and society as a whole.

Future-proof

For our ‘single use-products’, it means that they are recyclable as much as possible. Which is why we use plenty of mono-materials. Furthermore, our greenhouse constructions are of premium quality. Hence, they last very long.

We keep looking ahead. In doing so, we continue to strive for the most sustainable and modern solutions. So that we can continue to develop and produce in a sustainable and future-proof way.

Sustainability at Hordijk can be found in:

• The development, production and marketing of sustainable services and products. So the continuity for our customers is safeguarded.
  
  
• The packaging that we develop, produce and supply. The goal: to prolong the shelf life of (fresh) products, thus countering unnecessary food wastage.
  
  
• To protect the (fresh) products against contamination with germs and other contaminations. It keeps the consumer healthy.
  
  
• Working with cutting-edge resources. It all started with wood, which was followed by the use of recycled plastic resources. Resources which we now recycle again. This also applies to the use of aluminium and steel for the construction of greenhouses. Our history shows that we are always willing to try (forthcoming) alternative resources.
  
  
• The use of innovative greenhouses. Greenhouses that contribute in a sustainable way to the growing global demand for fresh horticultural products. The greenhouses use very little water, and they work without chemical pesticides and artificial fertilisers. With this, we help to prevent a food shortage and possible impoverishment.
  
  
• We continue to invest in modern technology. Our production processes proceed as sustainable as possible. We focus on a minimal usage of natural processing aids and energy. Additionally, we limit emission and dispose our waste in a sustainable manner.
  
  
• The deployment of employees with attention to involvement, (personal) development and safety.
  
  
• To contribute to the result of the family business. This is why we keep developing and innovating, and the continuity is ensured.
